As a Creative Director you understand how to lead a team to deliver an overall experience that is fun, rewarding and valuable to its customers, using entertainment to influence behavior. You lead your world-class cross functional team of designers and artists in a fast-growing company, helping to define and execute the project’s vision. You take responsibility for team management and mentoring, as well as being a key member of the project leadership group. You are familiar with all aspects of development, recognizing and respecting the value of each contribution -whether creative or analytic. You’ll demonstrate an efficient and cohesive management track record with the ability to support, develop and inspire your team. We expect highly collaborative, flexible, motivated and approachable candidates who depend on their excellent communication skills honed through delivery of public-pleasing entertainment.
What we’re looking for
You are looking to get in on the ground floor of a well-funded startup with a proven leadership team. You have 7 or more years’ experience as Lead Artist, Art Director, Lead Designer or Creative Director, preferably in games, apps, websites, branding or similar creative software development and…
- Passion for creating engaging, innovative, emotional and transformative experiences, both through digital and real-world touchpoints.
- Proven ability as thought leader, engaging a cross-functional team of artists, designers, engineers, sales people and marketers to establish and realize a vision.
- Experience in data driven development, working collaboratively with data scientists.
- Proven track record for delivering both quality and innovation.
- Experience working with external development and manufacturing partners.
- Demonstrable background in hands-on evaluation and feedback of funnel analysis, onboarding, (game) mechanics and user input.
- Experience delivering across multiple platforms, whether digital (e.g. iOS, Android, web), traditional (e.g. printed materials, merchandise, hard goods) and events.
- Experience building a high-performance team of creatives through collaboration and mentorship.
What you’ll be doing
- Collaborate with all stakeholders, whether client, community managers, sales, key account managers, operations, developers or others to obtain knowledge of the service requirements.
- Work closely with internal and external development teams to direct the focus of the project with an eye towards compelling engagement through game design and community management techniques.
- Create visionary demos and prototypes, which establish and drive experiences and interaction concepts from idea to scaled application.
- Set clear creative goals and deliverables to ensure a cohesive experience across the platform, engaging employees, employers and strategic partners.
- Work closely with the internal Production, Art, Design, Engineering teams to deliver on an industry-defining engagement experience.
- Take responsibility for the creative philosophy and the standard of creative output across company.
- Anticipate threats/hurdles to vision, quality, and innovation and work effectively with team leads, development partners and operations to mitigate.
- Monitor results of team efforts and propose actions for the future.
- Partnering with the COO to establish an efficient, proactive and flexible process that improves overall delivery, quality and consistency.
What you’ll bring to the table
- 5-7 or more years’ experience as Creative Director, Art Director or Lead Designer, preferably in games or related software development and…
- Proven ability to build and lead a team to realize a vision, engaging a team of artists, designers, engineers, salepeople and marketers.
- Proven track record for delivering both quality and innovation.
- Experience working with external development and manufacturing partners
- Passion for creating engaging, innovative, emotional and transformative experiences.
- Demonstrable background in hands-on evaluation and feedback of game mechanics and player input.
- B.A., M.A. or related experience
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to inspire the creative team to give their best. Team player, motivated to build internal confidence and alignment.
- An understanding of how creative roles complement other departments, such as finance and data management.
- An awareness of current trends in employee engagement, games, design and software development.
- Knowledge of the software and applications involved in the creative process.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A self-starting attitude and an open outlook.
- Resilience under pressure and against deadlines.

- Experience with rapid prototyping, hardware development and manufacturing and/or data-driven design and development.
- Entertainment industry experience in another discipline (programming, art, production, audio, editing, directing, etc.).
